Julia Jean Turner better known as Lana Turner was a famous American actress. She was born on February 8, 1921 in Wallace, Idaho, United States. She is the daughter of John Virgil Turner and Mildred Frances Cowan. She started her career at the age of 16 when she signed a film contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. In 1937 she first attracted attention with her role in the film They Won’t Forget. In 1938 she made her debut in the film Love Finds Andy Hardy. In 1941 she did a main role in the film Johnny Eager. Her performances in the films made her one of the first Hollywood scream queens. For her roles in the films The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and Peyton Place (1957) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. In 1959 she made her debut in the film Imitation of Life proved her one of the greatest successes. In 1982 she accepted a much publicized and lucrative recurring guest role in the television series Falcon Crest. Her first appearance on the show gave the series the highest rating it ever achieved. In 1991 she made her last film appearance.
She is also known for her marriages and divorces which made her one of the most divorced celebrities in Hollywood. She has married to Artie Shaw (m. 1939–1940), Joseph Stephen Crane (m. 1942–1943), Joseph Stephen Crane (m. 1943–1944), Henry J. Topping (m. 1948–1952), Lex Barker (m. 1953–1957), Fred May (m. 1960–1962), Robert Eaton (m. 1965–1969) and Ronald Dante (m. 1969–1972).
She died from throat cancer in 1995.
