Allison Brooks Janney better known as Allison Janney is a famous American actress. She was born on November 19, 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She is the daughter of Macy Brooks Putnam and Jervis Spencer Janney, Jr. She has two brothers Jay and Hal. She made her first debut in 1989 in the film Who Shot Patakango? in which she played the role of Miss Penny. In 1991 she made her debut in TV series Morton & Hayes in which she played the role of Beatrice Caldicott. In 1996 she made her appearance in the film Big Night in which she played the role of Ann for which she was nominated for Chlotrudis Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 1999 she made her debut in the film American Beauty in which she appeared as Barbara Fitts and for her performance in the film she won two awards: Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Cast and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In 2002 she played the role of Sally Lester in the film The Hours for which she was nominated for Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Cast and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In 2005 she was nominated for Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for her performance in the film Our Very Own. In 2011 she won several awards and nominations for her performance in the film The Help in which she played the role of Charlotte Phelan. In 2012 she portrayed the role of Prof. Judith Fairfield in the film Liberal Arts. In 2013 she made her appearance in the film The Way, Way Back in which she appeared as Betty.
