He became born on February 10, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska, America. he is the son of Peggy Payne and George Payne. He began his expert career in 1996 while he made his directorial debut with the movie Citizen Ruth. In 2004 he made his debut as a director and creator of the film Sideways for which he won numerous awards and nominations which consist of Academy Award for excellent tailored Screenplay (with Jim Taylor), Gotham Award for first-rate function and impartial Spirit Award for pleasant Director. In 2011 he made his debut as director, producer and creator of the movie The Descendants for which he received the Academy Award for incredible tailored Screenplay (with Nat Faxon and Jim Rash) and several different award nominations. In 2013 he made his directorial debut with the movie Nebraska for which he is nominated for 3 awards.
After dating for three years, he married Korean-Canadian actress Sandra Oh on January 1, 2003. On March 12, 2005, they introduced their separation and the divorce was finalised on December 22, 2006.
